Other accounting academic YouTubers
I don’t have a lot of intro and 2nd year accounting information – but I know some fantastic colleagues that are making great content:
Introductory accounting
Dr David Bond – Dave is an academic at UTS and teaches introductory accounting & accounting standards at the postgraduate level. Dave’s channel is full of great full lectures as well as bite sized chunks of IFRS content.
Dr Victoria Clout – Victoria is an academic at UNSW and teaches Accounting 1B – a first year undergraduate introductory level subject. She has great explainer videos on her channel.
Accounting standards / financial accounting
Dr Helen Spiropolous – worked examples applying financial accounting standards
Mastering IFRS – this channel is Prof Peter Wells from UTS and covers key international accounting standards in these great explainer videos.
Management accounting and data analytics
Prof Wendy Tietz – Wendy is an author of a well known management accounting textbook but teaches introductory as well as management accounting.
Mixed accounting topics
Rutgers Accounting Web – this YouTube channel is a treasure trove of everything accounting – introductory, management, financial, information systems, audit – Rutgers University in the USA puts every single one of their accounting lectures online!
Prof Susan Crosson – these videos are all quite old – 4-12 years – but the basic concepts for accounting remain the same
Learning with Tia Atieh Fallahi CPA – this channel is from one of my favourite colleagues at UTS – she’s only starting out but there are some excellent resources for developing your communication skills.
Dr Veronica Paz has a website with small courses that cover most areas of accounting and are available for reuse under a creative commons licence
Other types of resources
The Teaching and Learning Toolbox is an award winning guide from Profs Markus Ahrens and Cathy Scott for accounting academics covering tools and tips for using technology in teaching. They have a special post to help accounting academics move online.
Accounting is Analytics is a fantastic resource for teaching data analytics in accounting and includes turn key resources and activities – developed by Wendy Tietz, Jennifer Cainas and Tracie Miller Nobles. The team also offers regular webinars.
