New roles to support the accounting profession

I’m on sabbatical for the 2nd half of 2019 – I’m working on some research projects, attending conferences and 2 exciting new roles in which I can support the accounting profession.

The first is the honour of being chosen as one of 2 inaugural Academic Scholars at the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board. I’m working with AUASB staff to develop resources related to improving the public’s understanding of assurance and audit and how auditors can support audit quality. The latter topic is quite a timely one given the announcement in early August of a parliamentary inquiry into audit quality.

My second new role is as a member of the Education Board of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. More about the board and its role:

Our Education Board is a sub-committee of the CA ANZ Board and is delegated to provide academic oversight and leadership of CA ANZ’s higher education programs. It assists the CA ANZ Board to ensure the academic functions, authorities and responsibilities of CA ANZ, as a registered Higher Education Provider, are upheld.

My appointment is for 2 years and I’m excited to get started! I receive a lot of feedback about the CA program from former students and am keen to dig into evaluating CA X – the new version of the CA program
